Catfish Stockings in DFW-area Lakes to Begin Next Week
ATHENS Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will begin
stocking channel catfish the week of April 18 into several
DFW-area lakes that are part of the Neighborhood Fishing
program.
DFW has five Neighborhood Fishing sites: South Lakes Park in
Denton, City Lake Park in Mesquite, Greenbriar Park in Fort
Worth, Chisholm Park in Hurst, and Lakeside Park in
Duncanville. Stockings will take place every two weeks until
the end of October, except during the month of August.
Stockings are planned for the following weeks:
April 18;
May 2, 16 and 30;
June 13 and 27;
July 11 and 25;
September 5 and 19; and
October 3, 17 and 21.
Exact dates for stocking may vary and are not announced in
advance in order to spread fishing pressure over the entire
week.
Anyone 17 years or older needs a fishing license to fish at
the Neighborhood Fishing locations, and anglers can use no
more than two poles while fishing. The bag limit for channel
catfish is five fish per day with no minimum length limit.
Neighborhood Fishing is a cooperative effort between TPWD
and local cities to promote fishing in community fishing
lakes. For more information visit www.neighborhoodfishin.org.

"Bass Fishing" By: Dan Hastings III![]()
Just a little background, I’ve been fishing this very tank for some 19 years now. I can still remember the first time I went fishing with my grandpa out there. He’d put on a spinner and walk right into the water. Of course lil ole me would follow. He’d catch a fish and I’d carry it back to the cooler. It wasn’t long before I started asking for the rod, grandpa can’t have all the fun =). 19 years later the tanks never gone dry and it’s provided lots of good times. A lot of first fish caught here at a tank we call Bass Lake. Read More...

May has come to a close and it is now time for another
exciting time on lake fork, THE DEEP BITE. The famous deep
bite on lake fork is an exciting way to catch many quality
fish in a short period of time. I have been seeing more fish
start to move out deep but there are still plenty of good
fish to be caught in the shallows...Read

Homemade Jigs!
Over the years I've used just about every style of crappie
jig there is for just about every species of fish that can
be found in a small south Texas pond. I've even caught trout
off of them in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and as far north as the
Cowichan River, British Colombia, Canada! I have caught
herring for salmon in Canada, and piggy perch for Specs On
the Texas coast! I even caught Redfish and a Sheepshead on
the coast with my jigs. But my main focus with these
colorful jigs is the hard hitting,...READ
